MIX Coworking started in 2018 out of our own need for space to work, beginning as a tiny workspace in the heart of Clonakilty, offering the essentials: a desk, internet connection and good vibes.
In 2020, MIX Coworking applied for funding with Secad Partnership CLG (EAFRD - Europe Investing in Rural Areas - LEADER 2014-2020, West Cork LAG). With funding secured, Mix worked with the owners of 8 Wolfe Tone Street to bring the town-centre building back to life. Secad supported with the interior fitout of the building, including the internet network, furnishings and phone booths. MIX Coworking reopened at this location in March 2021.
In 2022, MIX secured a second round of funding with The Connected Hubs (https://connectedhubs.ie), which supported operations, including meeting spaces, pods and solar panels.
It's our passion to support remote workers, freelancers, artists, businesses, parents, and community groups with a positive, inclusive, supportive and reliable space to work.
We are a family team, Rachel Kelleher and Michael Kote. We have called Clonakilty home since 2017 and continue to enjoy travelling and exploring West Cork with our son 🔆 Caelan.
Interested in Working Together?
We'd love to hear from you; here's a bit about us.
Rachel Kelleher, "I studied Commerce and started working at The Digital Hub in 2010 - it was a hive of start-up activity and the start of coworking for me - I have gravitated to coworking set-ups since. Right now, I am studying for a Diploma in Interior Design with the IDAI. I volunteer with Psycare Ireland, and I feel a link between holding space in festival settings and holding the ties and space here at MIX Coworking! The important thing is that people feel safe and supported. There is a lot more going on here under the surface, and I'm very grateful to the regulars that love being here, supporting the current, and making it what it is."
Michael Kote, "I studied Art at UC Santa Barbara and ended up living in Chicago working for Global Adrenaline, which later became National Geographic Expeditions. This led me to working with Remote Year, which was an amazing opportunity to live out of a backpack for a few years while working a serious job at the same time! Remote Year is how Rach and I met - it was a travel startup focused on remote work and coworking. I have a passion for improving workflow efficiency within distributed teams, and after some local contracting, I'm now back working in travel, with CLE Abroad. I love working at MIX. If you haven't been in, come visit!"
